From time to time we’re asked if we have ever done Bridal Shows. We’re certainly not against them, but we have never found one that really appealed to us. Now after participating in The NotWedding I don’t see how we ever could. The NotWedding isn’t a bridal show… it’s a party. Well really it’s a fake wedding to inspire real brides, which in many ways makes it a party. Complete with a ceremony, dinner, and dance party reception The NotWedding brings together hand-selected vendors to perform their services exactly as they would at a real wedding. Now instead of rolling through aisle after aisle at a bridal show guests get to taste the cake, hear the music and watch the vendors in action.
We were excited when we were asked to be a part of this year’s The NotWedding, and after working with the gorgeous couple Tinika and Ronnel for their engagement session we were excited to see what The NotWedding day would bring. It’s safe to say it brought a lot.
With it’s sunny west coast vibe Ambient Studios played host to this year’s The NotWedding. Being a full daylight studio this location is a photographer’s dream for any wedding.
The main room at Ambient Studio was transformed with an incredible mix of tones and textures, old and new, details and negative space. The teams behind the design did a truly amazing job.
The NotWedding uses real married couples as their models for each year’s event. Wouldn’t you know not only is the gorgeous duo of Tinika and Ronnel a good-looking married power couple, but they’re also incredibly nice and fun to hang out with.
We loved this yellow barrier wall and the energy it brought to these beautiful portraits.
The detail and balance of color in all the flower designs were incredible. Tiff especially fell in love with Tinika’s beautiful bouquet.
Back inside guest were treated to a beautiful ceremony performed with spoken word by Sean Grant, and music by Emily Hearn.
Once the newlyweds were shuttled off into the Tunnel of Love it was time for dinner and dancing.
Like we said not only are Tinika and Ronnel good looking but they’re fun, and they made sure everyone else was having fun as they got the dance party started.
We feel honored and humbled to have been selected as a part of this year’s The NotWedding, and can’t believe it’s already over. We had the opportunity to work with some amazing vendors who we can now call friends, and look forward to “The NotReunion,” dinner dates, and getting to work more with each of you in the future. A special thank you to Callie and Michal. We adored working with you both, and are so happy to call you both friends. For those of you in Orlando and San Diego you must check out your city’s The NotWedding.
